  • Our Story | ukiahnaturalfoodscoop

Story and store tour about Ukiah Natural Foods Co-op It all started back in the mid-'70s when a group of "back to the land"-ers formed a buying club in Ukiah, CA. In 1976 the retail store was incorporated as the Homestead Exchange which is still the official name of the Co-op although we do business as Ukiah Natural Foods Co-op. Once incorporated the Co-op operated out of a garage off of Gobbi St. and as demand grew moved to a larger site at 308B E. Perkins. The Co-op continued to fill a need that was vital to the community and in 1998 moved to our current location at 721 South State St. In 2021 the Co-op completed an expansion and remodel which added 5,782 square feet of additional space featuring food services, a café seating area, office space, and restrooms. Through all of the changes and growth, the Co-op has always maintained the mission, vision, and commitment to our core values.
